Sauropus androgynus

It is one of the most popular leafy vegetables in South Asia and Southeast Asia and is notable for high yields and Palatability. It is locally known as Chikurmanees, Maduracheera, Blockuchera, Velichera, Peelees and Pandimuringa. Its leaves are commonly used as vegetable. A perennial crop grown in all climates of Kerala, it is planted in rows and used as a hedge.

The stem of the branched plant is green in color. 

Leaves are arranged oppositely on petioles. The white to pale red flowers are rounded and have up to 4-5 petals. The pods are white or whitish red in color. Pods may contain up to 4-5 seeds.
